The Raw Materials Research Development Council (RMRDC) and Dantata Foods and Allied Products Limited have reached an agreement to partner on the production of sesame oil in Nigeria. The acting Director-General of RMRDC, Dr. Husseini Ibrahim, disclosed this recently. According to Ibrahim, Nigeria would continue to lose a lot of money to importation if they fail to be import dependent. He added that RMRDC intends to form clusters for the sesame producers and promote the activities for the benefit of Nigeria and its economy.
According to the Chairman of Dantata Group, Alhaji Tajudeen Dantata, the idea is to group the sesame farmers within the same vicinity and then improve their farming method. He stated that the intent is to empower the farmers with the machines for oil mill production in such a way that they will be in charge of buying, processing, crushing and refining the seeds.
