According to a Renaissance Capital research, Nigeria has become the largest cement manufacturer in Africa as a result of the growing demand and favourable government regulations in Nigeria. The research also stated the significant change in the Nigerian cement market is driven by a viable environment and increased investment of aggressive economic growth. The current industry capacity surpassed the 20 metric tonnes per annum mark which is well above the 18.3 metric tonnes per annum South Africa is currently producing.
The report also revealed that Nigeria is now the 3rd largest cement manufacturer in the broader Middle East with Egypt and Saudi Arabia taking the lead. Renaissance revealed that the largest cement producer in the country, Dangote Cement is the driving force behind the country’s cement success story.
